Gen Korean BBQ House - Portland

Went on a Saturday in between rushes and had an amazing time! Their mocktails are delicious, and the food portions are great. Being able to cook the meat yourself is a fun experience, and I will definitely be going back. Weekends are at the dinner rate, but give you the dinner menu. The variety means you'll be coming back again to try out everything you missed. The staff were attentive and pleasant, helping make the atmosphere that much more welcoming.

I loved this place.. wish I would have got the waitress name, she was awesome. We got seated right away and got are food right away.. had two rounds and I just have nothing I could complain about. It was perfect start to finish.. I’m going back for sure,,

First time and so glad we decided to check it out despite numerous poor reviews. Great space/interior. Comfortable booths. Our server was very kind. Huge menu even if you don’t upgrade to premium. Reasonable portions, not too much but not too little. Service was FAST. Quality and flavor of food was fantastic. Totally worth it! I definitely ate all I could. Will definitely be coming back!

Great Korean BBQ. Loved the place. Premium beef are great. Loved the Galbi. Very quick service. They had improved they service, they used to have you waiting with plenty of tables free with no explanation, but not today

Daniel was our waiter, very attentive and made sure we had enough food on the grill. Really like the vibe and the rest of the team coming by to deliver food or pick up our used plates. Overall great deal and belly full of food. You have to try it. Recommend the Beef Bulgogi (very tender), shrimp, honey garlic pork belly. There’s so much, I’m coming back with more friends. Keep up the momentum!!

If I could add more stars- I would! statistics prove that most people with a good experience - aren’t inclined to leave a review. A much larger scale of people with a negative experience take the time to write a review. Gen Korean BBQ met a critical group of people today. Exceeding expectations with taste and leaving an impression with service! My father in law is visiting- the authentic interaction the staff had with him was appreciated. They provided service as friendship! Friendly, professional, intentional, and prideful were at top quality. Thank you Jemma, Angel, Gabe and fellow staff for the exceptional service and quality food! We will be back!

If you’re in Portland and craving Korean BBQ, I definitely recommend checking out Gen. The side dishes alone are worth the visit—everything was fresh, well-prepared, and had great variety. The tofu soup stood out the most for me. It was flavorful, comforting, and honestly some of the best I’ve had. As for the meats, I really enjoyed the top sirloin and brisket. Both were high quality and cooked up nicely on the grill. The fingerlings were also a nice touch—simple but delicious. Additionally,our waiter went above and beyond and showed exceptional customer service from start to end. Overall, it was a great experience with solid food, good portions, and a relaxed atmosphere. I’d gladly come back.

My partner and I were at the mall doing some Christmas shopping when we stumbled upon Gen Korean BBQ. We had seen this place on TikTok about a month ago and decided that we just had to try it. And what a great decision it was! We were impressed by a number of things. The atmosphere was inviting and fun. Great for groups or a fun date night. There were so many different selections of meat and sides that were all included in the all you can eat. We asked our server to recommend some of her favorite dishes and they did not disappoint. Speaking of our server, she was lovely and walked us through how the process worked as we had never been to a Korean bbq before. She was attentive and really cared that we had a good experience. She actually told us that it was her first week of serving but she was pro! She even wanted to know our feedback on how we liked our selections. Overall this was a great spur of the moment decision! We will definitely be back!
